IMPORTANT: The database is provided in .txt comma delimited format and can be imported in MS Access, Excel 2007+ or other database software.
In older versions of Excel files will appear to open fine but may have missing or omitted records. Please let us know if you do not have software that can open these files. Please direct any database-related questions to Eric Secker
Download the COMPLETE 2011 Database which contains all sightings through late fall of 2011 or pick from one of the files below if you are only interested in data from a particular season or source.
COMPLETE 2011 Database: This file contains the complete database of sightings for the Chicago Wilderness area from BCN eBird and the nationwide eBird website. The data from all the other files descibed below is included.
Breeding Season (ALL): This file contains all sightings in the BCN eBird database between June 1st and July 15th. This file includes data for all protocol types (the two files below are subsets included in this dataset). This is the best file for investigating what birds are breeding in a certain area.
Breeding Season (Point Counts): This file contains all point count sightings between June 1st and July 15th in the BCN eBird database.
Points that follow our official BCN protocols typically have a location name that is followed by a "--" and the point
number
(or a unique number / identifier for some DuPage County points). This is the best file for looking at year-to-year changes (also often our most reliable data).
Breeding Season (Other): This file contains all sightings between June 1st and July 15th in the BCN eBird database that follow protocols other than point counts (transects, general counts, and others).
Non-Breeding: This file contains all records in the BCN eBird database that fall outside of the breeding season (before June 1st or after July 15th).
Additional eBird Data: This supplimental file contains records for our area that were entered in eBird's nationwide website (not in our local BCN eBird website). This data typically does not follow official BCN protocol and is less reliable in general.
