The next scheduled meeting of our coalition will take place on Saturday, April 11th, at 1pm at Gibson Woods Nature Center, 6201 Parrish Avenue, Hammond, IN on Saturday, April 11, 2009.  For directions, see the sites below:

For those who can arrive early there will be a hike of the area from 11:15 to 12:15, lead by Donna Gonzalez of Save the Dunes. Gibson Woods Nature Preserve property consists of wooded sand dunes and small wetlands (swales). It was once part of an extensive sand dune ecosystem that was carved out by the water and wind along the southern shore of Lake Michigan and it is one of the last examples of this type of landscape, which used to dominate the majority of the Calumet region. If you are coming for the hike, please bring a sack lunch to enjoy before the meeting.

 

Please make every effort to attend and please RSVP whether you plan to attend or not.

1. If you have an item you would like on the agenda, please send it to Judy Pollock (BCN President) as soon as possible so she can include it when she sends out the agenda. All agenda items will need to be accompanied with a short abstract that can be sent to the Secretary, Mary Lou Mellon or given to her the day of the meeting. This is not meant to impede your ideas but to give the secretary the accurate facts for the minutes.
