Conservation Concern: NONE

Population Trend: Decreasing
Credibility: Poor

The American Kestrel is a fairly common statewide breeder in open fields and grasslands with trees where it nests in tree cavities.  Although kestrels appear to be decreasing in portions of the CW Region due to development and urban sprawl, this species is rarely encountered on BCN Census point counts and the trends presented here have a wide margin of error.
