Population Trend: Poorly Known
Credibility: Good

The Eastern Meadowlark is a common statewide breeder.  Preferred habitat includes grasslands, savannas, weedy fields, and open shrublands.  Estimated trends indicate that this species is declining slightly.  Development and suburban sprawl in the western  counties likely accounts for a portion of the decrease.
