| | Conservation Concern: 5PIF, FW Population Trend: Increasing? The Grasshopper Sparrow is an uncommon to fairly common breeder in the CW Region and fairly common in regions to the south. Although BBS trends show this species as decreasing significantly in Illinois at a rate of -7.0% annually, BCN eBird trends show a notable increase in the CW Region. These discrepancies may represent differences in trends between roadside populations that are threatened by development and populations in preserved areas that are fairly well protected. |
