OVENBIRD | SPECIES INDEX | HOME |
|
| Conservation Concern: 7PIF Population Trend: Substantial Decrease The Ovenbird is an uncommon breeder in the CW Region. Preferred habitat includes large woodlands with dense understory. Sample size is not large, but short term trends show a very substantial estimated decrease of between 15% and 45% annually. The Ovenbird has been shown to be one of the (desirable) species most negatively impacted by current restoration practices in the CW Region - especially buckthorn and honeysuckle removal (although it is not believed to be a productive breeder in our region's fragmented forests). |
