| | Conservation Concern: NONE Population Trend: Decreasing? The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is an uncommon to rare breeder in the CW Region, fairly common in regions to the south. Preferred habitat includes open woodlands, forest edges, and shrublands with trees. BCN census data shows largely conflicting short-term and long-term trends. BBS trends for Illinois show a 4.7% annual increase. Sample size is low for this uncommon, often silent, and easy to miss species. |
