CAROLINA WREN

The Carolina Wren is an uncommon to rare breeder in the CW Region which is on the far northern fringe of its range. Populations here often have difficulty combating harsh winters, but BBS trends indicate that the Carolina Wren's numbers are still increasing in our area. Nesting usually takes place in woodlands with adequate low understory - often near water in sheltered ravines. BCN eBird trends are poor due to the very small sample size. Photo: © Jerry Kumery
