Black-capped Chickadee

The Black-capped Chickadee is a common breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. They are cavity nesters that are frequently found in many woodland habitats, both coniferous and deciduous. Considerable declines were noted in some areas as a result of West Nile Virus around 2003, but updated BCN Survey trends indicate that this species is stable in our area. Photo: © Eric Secker
