Formerly a common bird of the tallgrass prairie, in recent years this species has been found mostly in airports and pastures, in dwindling numbers. Currently there are a few small populations at sites in the Chicago Wilderness area, but the bulk of this bird's population is found in the Great Plains States. Photo: © Eric Secker
