Common Nighthawk

The Common Nighthawk is an uncommon to rare breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. In natural settings, this species nests in flat open areas with rocks or sparse vegetation. Nighthawks have also adapted to flat, graveled rooftops in urban areas. This species is poorly monitored by the BCN Survey, but anecdotal data indicates considerable declines in our region.
