Indigo Bunting

The Indigo Bunting is a common statewide breeder. Breeding habitat includes a variety of open woodland habitats with little understory and often dense forbs. Trends in 2013 are now significant and indicate a moderate increase. This highly adaptable species is known to nest in non-native weeds like garlic mustard but also shows a strong positive response to savanna restoration. Photo: © Heather Secker
