Red-shouldered Hawk

The Red-shouldered Hawk is a rare breeder in riparian woodlands in our area, more common to the south. It was removed from the Illinois Endangered and Threatened Species List in 2003. BCN trends indicate a significant moderate decline, but this species is very rarely encountered at BCN survey points.
