Song Sparrow

The Song Sparrow is a common statewide breeder. Breeding habitat is varied and includes grasslands and marshland edges. This species is very opportunistic and breeds in a wide range of habitats of both high and low quality. BCN Survey trends show that this species is stable in the Chicago Wilderness Region.
