Vesper Sparrow

The Vesper Sparrow is a very rare breeder in urban areas of the Chicago Wilderness Region, becoming fairly common towards the collar counties. Breeding habitat includes dry grasslands, abandoned fields, and agricultural areas. This sometimes difficult to detect species is poorly sampled by the BCN Survey but still shows a significant steep decline. Photo: © Jerry Kumery
