Wood Thrush

The Wood Thrush is an uncommon statewide breeder. Preferred habitat includes woodlands with understory and dense shrublands with canopy. Trends estimate a decrease of 10% annually. Research indicates Wood Thrushes have poor breeding success in fragmented forests *such as ours*. Breeding success likely declines after buckthorn and honeysuckle removal without sufficient reintroduction of native understory plants. Photo: © Eric Secker
