American Redstart

The American Redstart is an uncommon yearly breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. Their preferred habitat includes open forests with moderate understory and moderate to dense shrublands and forest edges. This species is much less visible during the breeding season, and its song may be frequently confused with other more common warbler species. This species is rarely encountered at BCN Survey points.
