Black-billed Cuckoo

The Black-billed Cuckoo is an uncommon breeder in the region and is now listed as a Threatened species in Illinois. They are usually found in shrublands, grassland hedgerows, or woodlands with moderate understory. This species can be very difficult to detect and BCN eBird records are insufficient to determine a significant trend. BBS data indicates a a significant annual decrease in the upper Midwest.
