Great Horned Owl

The Great Horned Owl is a common statewide breeder. Preferred habitats are quite varied, but mature oaks and other large trees are often chosen for nests. This largely nocturnal species is poorly sampled by the BCN Survey, but 2020 trends indicate a moderate decline. Photo: Gary M. Stolz / USFWS
