The Grasshopper Sparrow is an uncommon breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region and fairly common farther south. Updated BCN trends continue to show a significant decrease in the CW Region. As predicted as far back as the 2007 analysis, records of this species have now fallen below those of Henslow's Sparrow, formerly the rarer of the two species.
