Northern Bobwhite

The Northern Bobwhite is a rare breeder in the CW Region, more common to the west and south. Nesting habitat often includes dense grasslands or mixed shrublands. This species has declined considerably over the past 30 years and is rarely encountered on the BCN Survey. Most populations in the CW Region are small, and may contain a large percentage of released birds. A few larger populations still exist along the southeastern edge of the region.
