Northern Harrier

The Northern Harrier is a very rare breeder in the CW Region, although it winters in our grasslands. It selects large areas of moist grassland and/or marshes for breeding. This species has decreased substantially during the past century due to habitat loss. In the CW Region, summering birds are very rare and sporadic from year to year. Photo: © Eric Secker
