Pileated Woodpecker

The Pileated Woodpecker is a very rare, localized breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. It breeds in very large areas of forest, often in bottomland areas. This species has made a dramatic northward expansion in its range since the previous analysis in 2013. Photo: © Steve Byland
