Savannah Sparrow

The Savannah Sparrow is a fairly common to common breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region, uncommon to rare farther south. Breeding habitat includes dry grasslands, moist grasslands, and abandoned fields. This species is fairly well monitored by the BCN Survey. Trends in 2013 indicated that this species was stable, but updated trends in 2020 are now showing significant annual declines of over 3.4%. Photo: © Heather Secker
