BARN SWALLOW

The Barn Swallow is a common statewide breeder that frequently nests under bridges, building ledges and overhangs, in caves, or along cliff edges - frequently near water. They are often seen feeding over water or open fields and are easily detected. Birds recorded on the BCN Survey may not accurately represent the population at large in the Chicagoland area.
