Black-capped Chickadee

The Black-capped Chickadee is a common breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. They are cavity nesters that are frequently found in many woodland habitats, both coniferous and deciduous. Considerable declines were noted in some areas as a result of West Nile Virus around 2003, and BCN Survey trends show a continued moderate decline. Photo: © Eric Secker
