The Lark Sparrow is a very rare breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region, increasing in abundance to the south and west. Breeding habitat includes open, sandy, dry fields with some shrubs or trees. This species is rarely encountered in the CW Region but established populations are present in Kankakee County and south as well as a small population in McHenry County. Photo: © Jerry Kumery
