Northern Mockingbird

The Northern Mockingbird is a rare breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region and common in regions farther south; however, established populations are present in the southern counties of the Chicago Wilderness region. Breeding habitat is varied, but includes grasslands with scattered trees and open shrublands. This species appears to be expanding its range northward into our area. Photo: Ryan Hagerty /USFWS
