Ovenbird

The Ovenbird is an uncommon breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. Preferred habitat includes large woodlands with dense understory. BCN Survey data indicates a moderate decrease. Ovenbirds are not believed to be a productive breeder in our region. Breeding success likely declines after buckthorn and honeysuckle removal without sufficient reintroduction of native understory plants. Photo: © Eric Secker
