Pied-billed Grebe

The Pied-billed Grebe is an uncommon breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region. Preferred habitat usually consists of well vegetated marshes and ponds. Once threatened in Illinois, the Pied-billed Grebe was delisted. This species is not well sampled by the survey and trends are still uncertain. Photo: © Eric Secker
