Wood Duck

The Wood Duck is a common statewide breeder. This cavity nester prefers marshes with dead trees, wooded ponds, and flooded bottomland woods. This once rare species has rebounded considerably during the past twenty years. This species is undersampled by the BCN Survey which does not concentrate on marshland areas.
